The Classification OF Radio Control Cars
Radio control Cars are miniature scale cars controlled by a radio control or remote control system. The remote control is identical to a wheel like trigger or a joystick that transmits input signal to the RC car's IC chip. The transmitted signal is an instruction that controls and coordinates the movement of the RC car. RC cars are made for different purposes. Some are built solely for entertainment whereas others are designed for racing. RC Cars are available for different age groups too.
RC cars can be classified into two types as per their usage:
- Toy RC cars

- Hobby RC cars
Toy RC's are meant for just fun and playing. Toy RC's are available in common toy stores and are intended for children of 5-14 years age group. These toys are safer and relatively easier to maneuver. They cost somewhere around 30 to 85 USD. Besides, these look like real cars and have classic exteriors and interiors. Some are geared with MP3 players and FM radios. Poor machine design, poor performance and low grade construction are the main back drops of toy RC's that prevent them from being used as racing RC cars. They have relatively weaker motors since cheap Ni-Cad or alkaline batteries are used to power them. Weak motors inhibit their speed and they do not cross 15mph which is the maximum and their minimum speed is 10 mph. Even the steering is compromised in such models and they are able to go just straight or steer full right or full left. RC's of this type can be of use only on the road. However, few models offer off road use, but their performance is minimal. Because of its simplicity it is the best type of RC toy for children.
The second category is the hobby class. Hobby class models are high performance, high grade machines. They are collected for their speed, design, performance and endurance. The hobby class offers two sub classes: gas powered and Nitro powered RC car models.
The Gas powered RC vehicles depend on a fuel which is mixture of oil and gasoline. The Gas type models are relatively costly in comparison with the nitro type. The price varies from 1500 to 3000 USD. They need additional space to function freely. They are relatively durable than their nitro counterparts. These models use less fuel. However, they are not very fast even with the high power
Nitro-powered RC vehicles offer several speed parameters: slightly slower speed, medium, and maximum power. These RC cars have in-built cooling system and you need not worry about stopping the car for cooling down. These are similar to the full sized cars in an aspect that they can be fueled, refueled and used again. The fuel used is a mixture of methanol, oil and nitro methane. Lubrication of the moving parts prevents failure of the machine and improves its endurance.
Buying radio-controlled Cars are so simple! You just have to know about their types, design, performance, durability and cost. This will help you decide the RC vehicle that suits you the most.
