Above The Race Track On The Directors Chair- Filming A RC Car Race!
Videoing a race is so much fun. Videoing a race that's happening in your house or locality is way more fun! That's right I am talking about capturing the remote control car race on video! To get the best results out of videoing, follow the following simple instructions.
At the start you must be familiar with all the controls of your camera. You need not buy a professional camera for this; a normal one will do more than enough. Remember skill is more important than quality of the camera. So make sure before you start filming if your comfortable using the camera and if you can move swiftly, without making the video look bumpy or shaky.
Study the race track before you start filming the race, think about how the start line should look in the video, how the cars should appear into the screen. Now put your thinking to practicality. Position yourself in such a way that your able to get the screenshots right. Don't stand too far from the track or too close to the track. Your position plays a crucial role in the filming process. Also try to cover almost all the angles. Make sure you don't miss out anything because once the race is over you won't be able to get back the same action. If need be, use two or more camera's.

While filming the grid, you can take your camera down low and get a close up of the car. This would give a really good cinematic effect. Zoom in to all the cars when static, before the race. This way you could introduce all the players to the screen. This would give the film the feel of suspense!
As the race starts, show the cars departing the screen and then in the next screenshot show the cars approaching a bend in the track. Here the cars would slow down for the turn and the highlight of the cars is fabulous. It is at this moment you can film an overtaking maneuver.
In case you lose sight of who is in the front, stop panning and focus the camera on the next corner, and wait till the leading car comes around again. You can then follow them.
Its all the more convenient if your camera is equipped with a screen, you can use that rather than the view finder. This will help you see what goes around in the track Practice zooming into and out of the corners since this will help you in showing all the elements of the race. This adds a vibrant ingredient to the video.
If you are ready to spend more money then you can buy miniature cameras that can be fit to the RC Car itself. This might cost a fortune, but it's truly worth trying for the thrill it gives!
To improve more you can always watch videos filmed by others and learn the tactics to make your race movie better and more fun to watch. Finally, you can proudly sit back and enjoy the race you've just filmed!
